Donald Trump has caused a global uproar by suggesting that the US could "take over" and "own" Gaza, along with the resettlement of its population.
The US president later reiterated parts of this proposal on social media, stating that Gaza would be "turned over" to the US by Israel as part of his plan.
The White House quickly sought to clarify that the displacement of Palestinians would be temporary, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio referred to the plan as an "interim" arrangement.
